Black Cantabs Research Society
The black cantabs
The Black Cantabs Research Society is a counter-history project created by students at the University of Cambridge in 2015. The Society has both a historical and political aim. The historical basis of the project is to uncover and preserve the legacies of Black alumni of the University of Cambridge. The political aim of the project is to critically intervene in the constructed narrative of Cambridge, and to place Black students in the institution's past, present, and future.
Huge thanks to our Society's sponsors, without whom this project would not have been possible.
Special thanks to the Centre of African Studies, Lucy Cavendish College, St. Edmunds College, Emmanuel College, Clare Hall, Homerton College, Gonville and Caius, Trinity Hall, Darwin College, Christ's College, Newnham College, Peterhouse College, and the Office of the Vice-Chancellor.
We're always bringing past and present students together for Socials, Seminars, and our annual Black History Month Dinner.
Take a look at our events to see how you can get involved!
